Chica Project receives the Youth Organization Award!

Thank you to Mayor Wu and the Office of Youth Engagement and Advancement for this wonderful honor.

On Saturday, February 22, the City of Boston’s Office of Youth Engagement and Advancement (OYEA) hosted the 2025 Mayor’s Youth Summit, a celebration of the impact that young people make in the community. The Summit was a vibrant event full of positivity and highlighted OYEA’s goal of uplifting young voices and advancing the lives of young people across the city through programming and resources. From live performances and speakers to giveaways and free food, the festivities showcased the brightest of Boston’s youth and their communities.

At the Summit, Chica Project was honored to receive the Youth Organization Award in recognition of a steadfast dedication to empowering Boston’s youth. Chica Project was chosen for this award based on nominations from you, our chica community! Without the connection and love we get from our familia, we wouldn’t be where we are today; so THANK YOU for your commitment to us! Our mission has always been to provide young Women of Color the opportunity to thrive and have a strong support system that they may not otherwise have access to. This award goes out to our entire community, and we promise to continue championing the next generation of leaders!

As Mayor Michelle Wu shared, “Boston’s future is in our young people, and we’re lucky to have their leadership and energy to build a city for everyone.” At Chica Project, we wholeheartedly believe in this vision and are proud to contribute to developing young leaders who are shaping Boston’s future. It’s truly an honor to be part of such a vast community of changemakers.

Thank you again to Mayor Wu, OYEA, and the many partner organizations that made this event possible!
