community-based program

Virtual Village

Our Virtual Village empowers participants to celebrate culture, uplift each other and rise as enlightened young women. All while connecting to build community. We provide a brave, online space for young women to connect, belong and celebrate who they are.

Participants explore topics such as identity, culture, community, civic engagement and self-love with the support of intergenerational mentors. This program offers participants financial, educational and well-being resources and opportunities to strengthen social capital. Participating 11th and 12th graders are eligible for college credit.

The Virtual Village program provides the tools, connection, support and inspiration necessary for young women to bloom into bright leaders of their communities and their lives.

Serving youth ages 11-18, in Massachusetts and other states, our Virtual Village empowers participants to celebrate culture and uplift each other while connecting to build social capital.  We create pathways to leadership development and cultural identity exploration through intergenerational group mentoring. This program is eligible for college credit for junior and senior chicas.

what we do

Focusing on leadership development & cultural identity exploration through group mentoring, we are a cohort of resilient thinkers, dreamers and believers. It is not a requirement to be enrolled in school to attend our Virtual Village because we recognize the many different paths that can lead a young woman to Chica Project. Join us on this journey!

In a cohort of approximately 25-30 young women from all over MA and other states, Chica Project’s team and mentors engage participants in thoughtful activities and discussions that may not be available to them in school, at home, or in their communities…until now! Through this program, participants begin to build a deeper sense of community, increase their sense of engagement through exposure to enrichment activities, and prepare for college and the workforce.

We also host several community engagement events throughout the year. Our community events are youth driven, led by our Peer Leaders, and open to chicas, families and community partners alike. These dynamic events cover a range of topics from wellness, financial literacy, entrepreneurship and more. The spaces we create are thoughtful and bring people together. Make sure to subscribe to our newsletter to be in the know!

Our program develops passionate and driven leaders. Though we are a Women of Color-oriented initiative, we are open to all young women and femme individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity or gender assigned at birth.
