I am committed to Chica Project because our work has been to close the opportunity gap for Latinas and Women of Color for over a decade. I have been a fan of Chica Project’s work since they started, seeing Nurys pour her heart and soul into building such a powerful organization. It is an honor to continue her legacy and support Erika and the team into Chica Project’s future.
I am committed to Chica Project because as a Black/Latina woman it is important to me to use my knowledge to assist and impact initiatives for the future of Latinx and Women of Color. Empowering young Women of Color is more important than ever because as women and People of Color we are at the bottom of the achievement and wealth gap.
I am committed to Chica Project because the organization hits every area on my checklist and more. I believe and hope our nation’s leaders will increasingly be women with a significant share being Women of Color. I love that Chica Project is grooming our future leaders.
I am committed to Chica Project because Chica is the rare and important nonprofit that is and has always been led by BIPOC leaders and has always been informed by and responsive to the community which the organization serves. Chica Project, fundamentally, is about building power for those who society has pushed to the margins. I know how underfunded BIPOC led organizations like Chica Project are and want to ensure that Chica Project secures the resources that it needs to grow and thrive.
I am committed to Chica Project because it is mission-aligned with my values: supporting women in personal development, learning, and providing resources for under-served communities. Chica Project’s programs are shaping a future with more women of color taking leadership roles across our communities, and it is powerful to be a part of this important shift in our country’s future!
